Northwest Rankin Cougars defeat Germantown Mavericks 24-17 in MS high school football game

Northwest Rankin High School quarterback Joseph Phillipson had 285 passing yards and threw for 1 touchdown to guide the Northwest Rankin Cougars to a 24-17 win over the Germantown Mavericks on Friday night in a high school football game.

The Cougars also received vital efforts from running back Jermany Hayden who rushed 19 times for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns and running back Camaree Marion who rushed 2 times for 7 yards.

Germantown’s quarterback King White threw for 113 yards and wide receiver Keyshaun Coleman had 43 receiving yards.

The win helps Northwest Rankin improve to 1-0 on the season while Germantown falls to 0-1. Tonight’s game was the first matchup between the two teams.

Northwest Rankin travels to Clinton, MS to take on the Clinton Arrows on Friday September 5. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
